Welcome to the
JASWAL LAB
Our goal is to expand the study of protein folding, stability, and dynamics to previously inaccessible regions of the proteome by exploiting native-state hydrogen exchange mass spectrometry (HXMS).

RESEARCH
Our lab studies protein folding using an array of biophysical, biochemical, and computational approaches. We focus on “folding-challenged” proteins that are very different from most model proteins studied.
LOCATION
Our lab is housed in the Chemistry Department on the second floor of the New Science Center. Amherst College provides an excellent environment for doing our science.
PEOPLE
Several associate and thesis lab members have been students Dr. Jaswal taught in Introductory Chemistry, and several have been Chemistry majors.

CONTACT US
Principal Investigator, Dr. Jaswal, and Lab Manager, Dr. Sohl, have published multiple papers on protein chemistry. Every year, our thesis students produce theses extending their work on HXMS techniques.
Dr. Jaswal is teaching and has taught Introductory Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Being Human in STEM courses at Amherst College since 2015.
